Michael Jackson movie biopic faces major shake-up for ‘4 hour movie’ | Music | Entertainment

The official Michael Jackson movie biopic will hit cinemas this October and tell the story of the King of Pop's life and career.

Produced by Bohemian Rhapsody’s Graham King, the upcoming film stars MJ’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the title role and co-stars Colman Domingo as his father. At the same time, Miles Teller plays manager John Branca (who also produces).

Yet now the October 3 release date is in flux, according to a new report on 2025’s Michael.

The InSneider reports the film will definitely be pushed back to 2026, but that remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, the rumoured four-hour cut is potentially being split into two movies like Wicked. Jackson’s fans would no doubt welcome the news of a Part 1 and Part 2.

Meanwhile, Deadline reports another delay factor is the legal issues surrounding 1993 accusations of molestation by Jackson by 13-year-old Jordan Chandler. The late pop star paid his family $20 million a year later with no admission of guilt. Jackson’s estate claims they wanted nothing about Chandler in the film, and the allegations, as depicted in the movie, “has led to a fierce internal dispute and extensive reshoots.”
