Last chance to stream 'best movie of the 21st century' on Prime Video | Films | Entertainment

Amazon Prime members have been warned the clock is ticking if they want to catch the triple Oscar-winning film The Social Network before it vanishes from the streaming platform on Monday, March 24.

Celebrated since its 2010 release, the biographical drama swept up Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Original Score in 2011, with five further nominations to boot.

Under David Fincher's skilled direction, the film provides a fictionalised retelling of Facebook's controversial beginnings. Jesse Eisenberg takes on the role of the Mark Zuckerberg as he creates a social networking site that skyrockets among Harvard University students.

Eisenberg is supported by the talents of Andrew Garfield playing his friend and business partner Eduardo Saverin, as Zuckerberg's invention quickly turns into a global phenomenon.

Yet success comes with legal entanglements when Zuckerberg finds himself embroiled in a lawsuit with the Winklevoss twins (played by Armie Hammer), who allege he pilfered their concept.

Hailed by both critics and movie-goers alike, The Social Network has solidified its status as one of the standout films of recent times.

Film maestro Quentin Tarantino himself proclaimed The Social Network the cream of the crop for the 2010s. Declaring unabashedly to Premiere, a renowned French film magazine: "It is number one because it's the best, that's all! It crushes all the competition," back in 2020, reports Surrey Live.

One fan took to IMDB to echo Tarantino’s praise, writing: "As Quentin Tarantino said.....this is one of the best movies of the 21st Century."

Casual moviegoers aligned with the sentiments of the renowned Hollywood figure. Another user on IMDB couldn't contain their enthusiasm, proclaiming: "[...] I agree with the positivity this film has received, for it is my idea of a modern classic."

They added: "With an intriguing concept, it is for me one of the defining films I have seen recently, one of the best movies of 2010 and relevant in its themes of greed, betrayal, class tension, friendship and loyalty and concept."

Meanwhile, another admirer hailed it as "the best David Fincher film" expressing surprise at how well a story about Facebook translated to the big screen and praising all who contributed: "You wouldn't expect a story about Facebook to translate well to the screen but thanks to every person that worked on this film it is marvellous."

The Social Network is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
