Peace lilies could produce pretty flowers for two months with 1 change![]() Peace lily plants require the right conditions to produce their beautiful flower-like white spathes that surround a cream-coloured spike. While plenty of garden centres and supermarkets will be offering peace lily houseplants, if you bought one last year, you may want your plant to bloom at home this spring. One of the best considerations to make if your peace lily houseplant isn't flowering is the location you've put the plant in. Gardeners' World Magazine verified that a lack of flowers "can be down to the location not being right". The best location is said to be "near a north, north–east or north–west facing window" that receives bright but indirect sunlight. But that's not the only consideration you need to make when trying to encourage a peace lily plant to bloom. On his TikTok channel, Tanner The Planter – who owns a plant shop – put the emphasis on the importance of light. "Peace lilies like to be in low light, but if it's in too low of light, the plant won't flower," said the plant enthusiast. "Move it to a brighter light location." In terms of watering needs, while a peace lily will dramatically show you when it's thirsty, the plant guru advised: "You don't want to wait until they wilt between each watering." The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) added that you only need to wait until the first few centimetres of the soil is dry before watering. Also, the "fluoride in tap water can damage the foliage, so use rainwater or filtered water whenever possible". Plus, be mindful that watering the plant in this way is only recommended during the "growing season", which is between April and October. "Reduce watering slightly in winter when growth slows down," the RHS clarifies. In addition to adequate lighting and appropriate watering, the peace lily flowers are best when fertiliser is given. The RHS confirmed: "To boost leaf production and flowering, apply a general liquid fertiliser every few weeks throughout the growing season." Specialised fertilisers are made to encourage flowers, so it's best to get one for your peace lily. If you follow the advice given above, there is a high chance your peace lily could flower for "two months", Gardeners' World Magazine noted. Source link Posted: 2025-04-12 10:04:15 |
