Liverpool failed to capitalise on a chance to go 14 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and fell 3-2 to a spirited Fulham side. Alexis Mac Allister, an at-times unsung hero of Arne Slot’s Liverpool, picked up the ball in Fulham’s half and drove a powerful effort past Bernd Leno from range.

A barrage of mistakes at the back saw Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz find the back of the net within 14 minutes to stun the league leaders. Liverpool were shellshocked and disjointed, unable to match their opponents, and crumbled to defeat in London despite substitute Luis Diaz's second-half effort.

Here, Express Sport runs the rule over Liverpool’s stars at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool player ratings vs Fulham (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper

Caoimhin Kelleher - 6

Little he could do for Sessegnon's opener but should have gotten closer to Muniz and Iwobi's efforts.

Defence

Curtis Jones - 5

In an unfamiliar right-back role once again, and was clearly being targeted by Fulham and Iwobi at every opportunity possible.

His defensive frailties were exposed when he did not expect Andreas Pereira's cross to go beyond Ibrahima Konate, hit Jones on the calf and then fall to Sessegnon for his goal. Did improve once moved back into midfield in the second half.

Ibrahima Konate - 4

Made a big error in the opening five minutes that could have led to a goal if not for Kelleher and Virgil van Dijk. Moments later he unnecessarily gave away a corner and more encouragement for the hosts.

Then for Sessegnon’s equaliser, Konate was out of position and unable to reach a cross that hit Jones before falling to the Fulham man to fire past Kelleher.

The Frenchman was then substituted off after 67 minutes to compound his misery, with Ryan Gravenberch moving to centre-back.

Virgil van Dijk - 4

It was the captain’s turn to make an error in defence when Muniz was far too strong for Van Dijk, before bringing the ball down and firing through Kelleher’s legs. The Dutchman complained for a foul but his protests were quickly dismissed by the referee and VAR.

Andy Robertson - 4

A nightmare mistake saw Robertson pass straight to Iwobi on the edge of Liverpool’s box, with the former Arsenal man needing no further invitation to bag Fulham’s second. His display will only further legitimise calls for the Reds to sign another left-back in the summer.

Midfield

Dominik Szoboszlai - 5

Plenty of effort but made very little impact in midfield. Unsurprisingly hooked after 55 minutes for Harvey Elliott.

Ryan Gravenberch - 5

A rare disappointing afternoon for the Netherlands international, who was overrun by Fulham's midfield and made a series of mistakes.

Alexis Mac Allister - 7

Thundered in Liverpool’s opener with a stunning strike from outside the box. He picked up the loose ball, went past Iwobi and Sander Berge and struck an effort that rendered Leno powerless. But aside from that moment of brilliance he, with the rest of the team, was sloppy throughout.

Attack

Mohamed Salah - 6

Was visibly frustrated but created a big chance for Jota to cut the deficit after half-time, expertly threading the ball with little space, but Jota could not finish. He then had his own opportunity on the hour mark, with just his second touch inside of the box, but blazed over from close range.

Diogo Jota - 5

Failed to convert a huge chance in what has become a familiar sight for Liverpool's forwards aside from Salah. Jamie Carragher recently called for as many as six incomings in the summer and few would begrudge more quality attackers being part of that.

Jota should have found the back of the net to begin the second half, having been played through but Salah but his shot was tipped wide by Leno.

Cody Gakpo - 5

Back in the starting line-up in Slot’s only change from the team that defeated Everton last time out, but was unable to get involved as much as he would like, though Robertson's reluctance to overlap did not help either. Replaced by Diaz shortly after the half-time break.

Substitutes

Harvey Elliott (55') - 7

Back to the club he made his breakthrough with, Elliott was met with jeers once again before hitting the bar in the 78th minute and having a sharp stoppage-time effort saved.

Luis Diaz (55') - 8

Made the perfect impact off the bench, scoring Liverpool's second after Bradley's run and a tidy finish was too quick for Leno to react. His side's most lively player and Slot will be ruing not starting the Colombian winger.

Conor Bradley (67') - 7

Made his welcome return from injury and freed up Jones to play in midfield once again. With Trent Alexander-Arnold still sidelined, Bradley now has another chance to prove he can be the England international's long-term successor.

He did just that, having moved into the middle of the pitch to recognise the acres of space left by Fulham, before teeing up Diaz to finish from the edge of the box.

Darwin Nunez (67') - 6

Made little impact while leading the line.

Federico Chiesa (82') - 6

Thrown on in a final roll of the dice for Robertson, but could not replicate his Carabao Cup final late goal this time in London.
