Urgent breakfast food recall issued over ‘insect infestation’

A breakfast food product has been recalled because the manufacturer has warned it may contain insects. Customers are being urged to return 400g packs of Rude Health Chocolate Crunch Granola with a best before date of October 24, 2025.

The item is sold in a number of outlets including Tesco, Amazon and Ocado.

A notice issued by the Food Standards Agency said: “Rude Health are recalling Chocolate Crunch Granola with a best before end date of 24/10/2025 because of possible insect infestation. No other batches of this chocolate crunch granola or other Rude Health products are affected by this recall.”

Insect contamination of food can occur through various pests such as cockroaches, beetles, moths and flies.

They can pose a health risk due to carrying bacteria, dirt and other debris.

Risks of consuming insects include food poisoning, allergies and the spread of diseases.

The affected packs have the batch code PD24102024, according to the recall notice.

The notice added: “If you have bought the above product we advise you not to consume it.

“Please return the product(s) to the store for a full refund (with or without a receipt).

“This recall is being made with the knowledge of the UK Food Standards Agency. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to our customers.”
