Make a delectable cinnamon roll in mere minutes with a handful of store cupboard staples - baking has never been easier. Laura, a lifestyle writer and digital creator, who goes by Cake on the Run, shared her take on a popular baked good on Instagram, without the need to make a trip to a fancy bakery and fork out a lot of money.

It turns out, all you need is five ingredients to make a scrummy cinnamon roll. Typically you’d need to prepare the cinnamon roll dough and allow the dough to rise, but Laura’s recipe cuts out all of the agonising wait time. Instead, you only need a handful of ingredients to replicate this recipe, perfect for filling the belly of one person.

You can mix all of the ingredients into a small bowl, creating a sturdy dough. Once the dough is rolled out into a thick enough rectangle, cover with a liberal spread of butter.

Then, simply add a scattering of cinnamon and sugar. Another benefit to the recipe is that you can skip the arduous cooking time in your wish.

Either microwave on high for just 90 seconds, or cook in the air fryer or oven. The recipe can be suited to what’s available to you.

Laura also provided instructions for those who want to make the recipe gluten free or vegan. For a gluten free version, use gluten free flour and add slightly more fizzy drink.

To make a vegan version, swap out the dairy-based butter for a vegan spread.

Foodies rushed into the comments to share their love and praise for the speedy, delicious recipe. Before.Chocolate said: “It would go so well with hot chocolate.”

Another wrote, “Sooo yumm,” while Emily simply commented, “Omg yes.”

So if you’re looking for a quick, no-fuss and no-frills recipe for your next weekend bake, this is what you’ll need.

Ingredients

  • 75g self raising flour (or plain with 1 tsp baking powder)
  • 50g sparkling water or lemonade
  • 1 tsp soft butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon and sugar
  • 1 tsp icing sugar and water

Method

Mix flour and fizzy water together to form a dough ball. If it’s too dry add more liquid or too wet add more flour.

Roll the dough out into a rectangular shape. Spread on butter and sprinkle over cinnamon sugar then roll up and pop into a mug.

Microwave for 90 seconds on high or air fry on 200℃ for ten minutes or oven bake for 20 minutes. If using an air fryer or oven use an oven proof dish.

Drizzle over icing sugar and enjoy straight away.
