Game industry analysts have told Bloomberg that the Switch 2 could cost as much as $499 when it launches this summer.

A $499 price tag would put the Switch 2 on par with the standard disc-based PS5 console, while a $449 price tag is the same as the standard Digital Edition.

Despite the potential price increase, the same analysts expect the Switch 2 to enjoy a successful launch period.

There are believed to be between 6-8 million Switch 2 consoles ready for launch, which means we should avoid the stock issues that plagued the PS5 launch.

The availability of the console coupled with the rumoured launch line-up could lead to a record-breaking release for the Switch 2 console, despite the higher price tag.

Fans will find out for sure when the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct takes place on April 2.
