Spinal Tap 2 trailer lands 40 years on with Paul McCartney and Elton John cameos | Films | Entertainment

Over 40 years ago, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Rob Reiner starred in what would become a cult comedy classic.

Reiner directed the other three in This Is Spinal Tap, a mockumentary about a fictional British heavy metal band of the same name.

Dozens of hours were filmed of the comedians improvising, and now they’re getting the band back together.

The first teaser trailer for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues has launched, with a piece of Stonehenge acting as Roman numerals.

The brief footage teases an electric guitarist turning the amp up to 11 before going beyond to infinity as Spinal Tap’s very own Stonehenge song from the 1984 film plays.

The original cast returns alongside the likes of Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John and other rock legends playing themselves, including Garth Brooks and Metallica’s Lars Ulrich. The original cast and director return (also as writers) for the hotly anticipated comedy.

Spinal Tap: The End Continues hits cinemas on September 12, 2025, meanwhile the original This Is Spinal Tap returns to the big screen this summer.
