Luke Humphries triumphed on night four of the Premier League in Exeter, defeating reigning world champion Luke Littler in the final.

The world No.1 had looked shaky at times in the west country, with Humphries missing several match darts before finally taking the win during his opening match against Gerwyn Price.

There were more unforced errors during the semi-final win against Rob Cross, while Littler looked as if he was going to cruise to victory after the teen raced to a 3-1 lead in the final.

Humphries did pull the match back to 3-3, only for Littler to once again get his nose out in front.

But the 2024 world champion proved why he is still the world No.1 by winning the next three legs to confirm a first-ever Premier League victory over Littler.

Referencing the achievement in his debrief with Sky Sports, Cool Hand revealed what he'd said to Littler during the pair's post-match chat.

He explained: "I said to him at the end there 'I think this is the first time I've beaten you in the Premier League'.

"It's nice, something to get over him. You keep losing all the time and it gets harder and harder every time you lose.

"Obviously in Glasgow, I had that problem with my finger. But this time, there was less pressure, no excuses, nothing could stop me."

Humphries extended his position at the top of the table with the victory, taking his tally after four nights to 10 points - five more than second-placed Littler.

On his start to the 2025 campaign, Humphries added: "It's a great start, 15 points after four nights... I would love to win the group, it's a dream start.

"Hopefully I can keep pushing and reeling in the points and maybe even get by 13th or 14th week to get in the top four because that's all that really matters."

Looking ahead to the upcoming UK Open, he added: "It's the UK Open this weekend, this [win vs Littler] is going to give me confidence.

"I know I haven't been at my absolute best, but it will make sure when I go there tomorrow, I feel good and I'm going to feel confident. And that makes me a dangerous person.

"Obviously I did a lot of things that a world No.1 would do tonight, but I've got a great opportunity to go and win another major."

The action from Minehead gets underway on Friday afternoon, with the final pencilled in for Sunday evening.
