Glazers won't attend Denis Law funeral as Man Utd owners face fresh outrage | Football | Sport

Manchester United's co-owners the Glazers will not attend the funeral of Denis Law.

The iconic player, who passed away in January at the age of 84 after a long battle with dementia, will be laid to rest at Manchester Cathedral on Tuesday.

However, none of the Glazer family members will be present to pay their respects. Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to attend, but it is unclear whether United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be there, with the club not confirming whether he will be present.

This marks the second time the American billionaires have failed to attend such a significant event, having also missed the funeral of Sir Bobby Charlton in November 2023.

At that time, the Glazers chose to stay away to avoid potential backlash from fans and unwanted media attention.

Their controversial ownership of the club since 2005 continues to draw criticism from United supporters.

Since Law's passing, the club has been in mourning, with thousands expected to line the streets of Manchester to bid farewell to the Scotland and United legend.

A 'Book of Condolence' will be available at Old Trafford between 12pm and 2pm for fans to leave personal messages and memories of the man known as 'The King'.

The funeral procession, including the hearse, is anticipated to pass by the stadium shortly after 1pm. It will pause at the 'Holy Trinity' statue, which honours Law, George Best, and Charlton.

Law, the sole Scottish player to have won the Ballon d'Or, had an illustrious 11-year career at Old Trafford, netting 237 goals in 404 appearances.
