F1 LIVE: Max Verstappen sent to Rwanda as Mercedes blasted for Lewis Hamilton farewell | F1 | Sport

Max Verstappen has been ordered to help out with a grassroots programme as a punishment for his sweary rant in a press conference at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Verstappen has been at the centre of Formula One's swearing row, with the Dutchman penalised for his outburst in September.

While in Rwanda for the FIA awards ceremony, Verstappen will take up his public interest work.

An FIA statement read: "While in Kigali [the Rwanda capital] he will undertake some work with junior competitors as part of the grassroots development programme organised by the Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC).

"The activity will involve an FIA affordable cross car, which was built locally in Rwanda by the RAC from blueprints provided by the FIA."
