Marcus Rashford broke his social media silence by posting a cryptic video on Tuesday amid swirling speculation about his Manchester United future. The 27-year-old forward is on the brink of an emotional Old Trafford exit, which could accelerate imminently ahead of a reported crunch meeting between his representatives and the club.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Rashford's brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, will meet United chiefs to communicate his desired destination on Wednesday.

The report adds that AC Milan expect to win the race for his signature and will prioritise the deal over a swoop for wantaway Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker.

United supporters en masse criticised his online silence after Sunday's dramatic FA Cup third-round victory against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Ruben Amorim excluded the Red Devils' No. 10 from his squad for the sixth time in seven matches, having previously claimed he was struggling with an illness.

The exception in that run of snubs was in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at the end of December, but Rashford was an unused substitute.

He hasn't featured for his boyhood club since being hauled off in the 2-1 win at Viktoria Plzen on December 12 while the visitors trailed.

Rashford has reminded his dwindling number of supporters that he remained hard at work behind the scenes by posting a video on his Instagram story.

The short clip shows a hooded individual with the England international's same leg tattoos using an exercise bike inside a gym.

Some fans have jibed about the level of effort Rashford appeared to be putting into the exercise and how it paralleled criticism of his work rate on the pitch this season.

Rashford has scored seven goals in all competitions this season - a tally only bettered by Alejandro Garnacho's eight. No United player has scored more than his four in the Premier League.

He managed just eight across the whole of last term, failing to build on the momentum generated from his 30-goal 2022/23 campaign.

Milan have been most heavily linked with Rashford, and San Siro is widely expected to be his next destination before the January deadline.

Barcelona have also been thrust into the frame alongside Monaco, Borussia Dortmund, Como, Tottenham and West Ham United.

Saudi Arabia has, too, been touted as a potential option, but Rashford reportedly has a desire to remain in Europe's top leagues.

He will be looking to reclaim his spot in the England set-up under Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
