UK weather maps show exact date ‘half of Britain’ covered by enormous | Weather | News

Parts of the UK will be blanketed in snow on 14 January, according to an international weather forecaster.

Scotland will be the hardest hit, while parts of Northern Ireland, Ireland and England may also be affected, according to WXCHARTS' forecast aided by MetDesk's data.

In Scotland, Inverness looks like it will be near the centre of the storm with predictions of around 22cm of snow, as the deepest purple reflects the heaviest levels of snowfall.

Areas on the northwest coast of Scotland shockingly are predicted to receive up to 32cm of snowfall.

Other areas in Scotland, including Aberdeen in the northeast, may also be affected, although Edinburgh could be largely spared, with the snow potentially just skimming past the city.

The map's lighter shade indicates that the snowfall in these areas will be less intense compared to the heavier bands further north.

In England, the Midlands and Northeast are expected to be most affected, with snowfall extending from Birmingham to Manchester, and stretching up to Newcastle.

Areas around Necastle could receive up to 8cm of snow, while the Midlands is predicted to receive about 7cm.

The west of Northern Ireland looks like it will also be hit too, with Belfast expected to be in the thick of it, potentially causing disruption.

The Republic of Ireland also looks like it will be impacted, from Dublin right down to Cork, with around 8cm predicted for the capital.

According to the Met Office, spells of strong winds, rain, and snow could become more widespread throughout the month as unsettled weather from the Atlantic begins to impact the UK.

It reassuringly notes there are no significant signals of a major cold snap, but temperature fluctuations are likely with colder spells.

Between 4 January to 13 January, it predicts overnight frost and a mix of snow, sleet and rain showers in the north. Snow, rain and potentially strong winds may also hit the south during the first weekend.
