UK snow latest - full list of 33 English counties battered by snowstorms on New Year’s Day | Weather | News

As the clock strikes midnight and 2024 becomes 2025, many around the country will be short hours away from snow storms and heavy rain.

According to online forecaster WX Charts, millions of Brits will see snowy flurries on January 1, leading into January 2.

The heaviest snow is predicted to arrive in northern England and southern Scotland; however, there could be snowfall as far south as London, according to the forecast.

Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland will also see snow and rain, but the main concentration of winter weather will be found in England.

Just after midnight on January 1, the snowy weather will be isolated to a small area of northern England, and the tip of Scotland.

However, as the day starts to take shape, so too will the snow arrive. By noon, a thick band of snow stretches from the North Sea in the east to the Atlantic in the West - meaning everywhere between Hull on the east coast and Northern Ireland in the west of the UK may be hit by wintery downpours.

Over time, the snowfall will move southwards, giving parts of the Midland and southern England at least a dusting. By January 2, the snow will have all but subsided.

Express.co.uk lists which English counties are likely to be hit with snow below.
