How to avoid condensation on windows using £3.50 Amazon hack

You know winter is around the corner when condensation starts lurking on your windows.

It usually arises when warm air collides with cold surfaces or when there's far too much humidity in your home. When the moisture-packed warm air comes into contact with a chilly surface, it releases the water.

This turns into liquid droplets on the cold surface which then creates condensation on your windows. It's not ideal leaving it sit there as it could lead to mould which can be harmful.

Just recently, a woman revealed how to stop condensation from coming back on windows using two "magical" items. Now another female shared her handy hack over on TikTok.

In a post with her 30,000 followers, Claire revealed she was testing out a £3.50 window insulation kit to see if they really work. She revealed these can be bought from Amazon.

According to her, these can reduce heat loss, stop condensation and save on heating bills.

The cheap product works by keeping out drafts and helping to stop condensation. It's energy efficient and can reduce "heating costs".

All you do is place the sheet onto your window and then see the results the following morning. The TikTok user was asked whether the item stopped her condensation problem.

After the post secured 10,700 likes, she replied to a comment and said: "Yes it stopped on the windows but a cold house with lots of air moisture could end up with mould elsewhere without a dehumidifier or better ventilation."

In another reply, she revealed: "I find they stick better if you really clean the frames first – dry them completely then stick the tape on quick. They won't stay if not clean and dry."

You can pick up one of these sheets from Amazon, or a pack of four for £5.99. According to experts, these insulation sheets can help prevent condensation, but it depends on how they're installed.

Meanwhile steel roof sheets with insulation between them can also prevent condensation and keep buildings warm. Anti-condensation sheets are designed with membranes to minimise moisture build-up.

But it's worth noting insulation can also make condensation worse, if it's not installed properly. For example, if the insulation is installed too close to a wall or roof, it can create a cold surface that attracts moisture.

Moisture can also penetrate insulation which isn't installed with a vapour barrier.
