Argos shoppers dash to grab MacBook Air at ‘lowest price’ ever - don't miss out

Apple makes some of the best tech you can buy, but a big barrier for some can be the high prices. The latest MacBook Air may have scored a full five stars in our latest review, but that machine costs a cool £1,099 - hardly pocket change for the average Brit.

The good news is Argos has a deal on the previous MacBook Air model, which is no slouch. In fact, Express.co.uk tech editor Dave Snelling also awarded this computer five stars, calling it “almost as mighty as a MacBook Pro”.

Argos is selling the M2 MacBook Air for just £749, which the popular UK retailer is advertising as “Our Lowest Price”. When the laptop first went on sale in 2022 it cost £1,149, so this deal saves you a heft £400 on the RRP.

You might want to hurry though, as when you visit the page for the Space Grey MacBook Air M2, Argos flashes up a few pop ups letting you know the laptop is “In Demand” - 30 people had added it to their basket in the last 24 hours when we checked the deal.

It’s also labelled as “Popular”, and you can be sure stocks won’t last forever at this price. The black version is already showing as unavailable for delivery to several local postcodes when we typed in a few to check stock levels.

The M2 chip also means the laptop is compatible with the latest version of macOS, as well as Apple Intelligence.

If you are able to afford this still-slightly-pricy MacBook Air, you will be rewarded with a computer that should last you several years. It has a 13.6-inch Retina display with pin-sharp resolution, powered by Apple’s M2 chipset and 8GB RAM. You also get 256GB storage, which should be enough for most people, particularly if most of your computing is done in a web browser.

There’s a 1080p FaceTime camera in the notch at the top of the screen, plus Spatial Audio on the superb stereo speakers. MacBook laptop speakers really are very good.

You also get a MagSafe charging port, two Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack (hooray!) plus that excellent trackpad that doesn’t physically move, instead clicking with clever haptic feedback to feel like a click.

In our review, Dave Snelling commented on the “epic battery life”, and it really is that good. The M2 chip is incredibly efficient, allowing for several hours of use away from the plug. It’s a superb all-round MacBook upgrade, particularly if you’re on an older Mac or Windows laptop that has an Intel chip.

We’re not sure how long this price will be live, but it’s likely to continue until the stock sells out.
