The UK's Environment Agency put out the warnings as snow and rainfall buckets down in multiple areas, and fears the melting snow could bring further chaos. It comes as Met Office yellow warnings for snow, rain and wind remain in place, as well as two amber alerts, which are rarer and more severe. An amber alert for snow means there is "potential risk to life and property" and the Met Office has issued such an alert for the north of England including Yorkshire as well as much of Scotland. Britons have been warned they may have travel disruption, power cuts and hazards brought about by icy surfaces - particularly in rural parts of the UK. Travel is widely disrupted with roads closed and some train routes cancelled throughout Saturday with rail companies urging passengers to avoid travelling to certain areas. Warnings, issued by the Environment Agency mean flooding is expected and that immediate action required by residents in these areas. The agency also issues alerts, for areas where flooding is possible, with locals told to "be prepared", of which there are currently more than 100 active across the three nations. BBC Weather says it works closely with partners to raise awareness of weather events affecting Northern Ireland which may result in flooding, though specific flood warnings are not currently issued for NI. Met Office advises that it is "not safe to drive or walk or swim through floodwater", telling the public to "avoid it where possible and if you are affected by fast flowing or deep water call 999 and wait for help".
