Berries will stay fresh 2 weeks longer without going mouldy with clever tipBerries are a delicious topping to a porridge breakfast, on top of pancakes, or just as a snack. Fresh berries, however, can quickly turn soggy and mouldy in the fridge – even in a matter of days. According to healthy food influencer, Nicole Keshishian, the "best" storage hack involves using one item. First, though, the berries should be soaked in a solution of one cup of white vinegar and three cups of water. "You can use less of each for a smaller amount of berries," Nicole stated on her @kalejunkie Instagram page. Allow the berries to soak in the white vinegar and water solution for at least 10 minutes, then rinse the berries in cold water. "No, they won’t taste like vinegar if you rise well," she assured, adding that the next step is to dry the berries. "This is the most important step," Nicole emphasised. "Blot with a paper towel and let air dry." Then the dry berries should be transferred to a container "lined with paper towels", which is "also important". Nicole added: "I try my best to purchase natural paper towels... hope this helps!" Claiming the simple storage hack can "keep your berries fresh for up to two weeks", hundreds of thousands of people went on to like the video. Some people, however, may prefer to buy frozen berries to enjoy as they wish. Although, the berries may taste softer and may not look the best if you're hoping to present a pretty dish, such as a dessert. Source link Posted: 2024-12-12 18:28:16 |
