Tottenham player ratings vs Roma: Trio struggle as Postecoglou erupts | Football | SportTottenham threw away victory against Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night as they were held to a 2-2 draw. The home side went ahead after just five minutes as Son Heung-min dispatched a penalty, but were pegged back midway through the first half when Evan Ndicka found the back of the net. Brennan Johnson grabbed a goal just after the half hour mark after being teed up by Dejan Kulusevski, but was then berated by his manager Ange Postecoglou for a tactical oversight. Roma penetrated Spurs with ease at times and had three goals disallowed. And the Italian team clinched a point in stoppage time as Mats Hummels turned the ball home from close range. Express Sport takes you through player ratings after an entertaining match. Tottenham player ratings (4-2-3-1) Fraser Forster: 6Made a great save in first half and also prevented an equaliser with a fine save in the 90th minute but it counted for nothing as the away side struck moments later. Still doesn’t inspire confidence. Pedro Porro: 6Joined his team-mate in attacking areas as usual and tested the Roma goalkeeper on a number of occasions. Hit the bar with a lovely free-kick after an hour but almost gifted Roma a goal at 2-1 up when he attempted to head the ball back to Forster. Radu Dragusin: 5Looked unconvincing at the heart of the backline and gave away a needless free-kick for Roma’s opening goal of the night. Postecoglou will be desperate to have Cristian Romero available again. Ben Davies: 7Was Tottenham’s best defender as he made a number of fine blocks. Went on a wonderful run on the hour mark to win a free-kick in a dangerous position. Archie Gray: 5Allowed too many crosses to come in to the box from the wing and was lucky Roma were offside so much. Tried to join in on the attacks and did make a good block late on. Rodrigo Bentancur: 7Looked to protect his back four and enjoyed a decent game by all accounts. Will be disappointed his team weren’t able to cling on at the end. Pape Matar Sarr: 7Did well to intercept the ball and drive in on goal after half an hour but fired the ball straight at the keeper. Won the penalty and played a wonderful pass forward to Kulusevski for the second Spurs goal. Dejan Kulusevski: 8Showed his prodigious talents in the final third once again as he ran the Roma defence ragged. Hit the post with a fine effort and teed up Johnson for the goal. Landed himself a needless yellow by pushing over a Roma player in first half. Brennan Johnson: 8Continued his fine scoring form when he timed his run to perfection and drilled home Kulusevski’s cross. Seemed to annoy Postecoglou moments before the interval as the Australian waved his arms around and screamed at the winger from the touchline. Son Hueng-min: 6Kept his composure to dispatch the penalty. Tried to make things happen around the penalty area and should have scored a second goal after Kulusevski’s shot cannoned back off the post, but he blazed the ball over the crossbar. Had bags of chances in the first half and forced the Roma keeper into another fine save. Dominic Solanke: 5Should have done better with a rebound from Johnson’s shot in the first half. Failed to win header for Roma goal and almost missed a guilt edged chance from close range late on. Almost teed up Johnson’s second after a fine run but should have passed to James Maddison for a tap in in the second half.
