Paul Thomas Anderson, the writer-director of There Will Be Blood, returns to the big scene with his very own $140 million black comedy.

One Battle After Another’s first trailer arrives today, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro and more.

The brief synopsis reads: “When their evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunites to rescue one of their own's daughter."

Little else is known about the mysterious movie, which was shot on VistaVision and will be released in IMAX.

This makes it the first live-action feature film, alongside The Brutalist, to be filmed on the higher-resolution widescreen variant of 35 mm since 1961.

VistaVision is certainly making a comeback this year. with Yorgos Lanthimos’ next comedy Bugonia (Emma Stone and Jess Plemons) filmed on it, alongside Emerald Fennell’s adaption of Wuthering Heights(Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi). Additionally, Alejandro G Iñárritu’s untitled latest film starring Tom Cruise is also shot on VistaVision.

One Battle After Another is heading to UK cinemas on September 26, 2025.
