Watch out AirPods! The superb Beats Solo Buds are less than £40 for Black Friday

You can pick up the latest Beats Bluetooth buds for £39.96, half the price of their £79.99 RRP. To get the deal, add the Beats Solo Buds to your basket and enter all your delivery details. On the payment screen you can add the promo code BEATS20 before you pay to drop the price from the advertised £49.95 down to an amazing £39.96.

For that low price you’ll get a pair of great sounding wireless earphones that pair easily with any iPhone or Android phone. We reckon they sound better than the latest AirPods 4, which cost twice as much, and while both products don’t have noise cancellation, the silicone tips on the Beats block out enough sound to let you enjoy your tunes in louder environments.

Argos has them in black, arctic purple, storm grey and red with a transparent case.

That case is tiny and among the smallest we’ve ever tested. This is because, unlike most other wireless earbuds, the case does not have an internal battery, so doesn’t hold a charge - you have to plug in a USB-C cable and charger to the case to top the buds up if they’re running low on juice.

But in our testing we didn’t find this an issue, as the Beats Solo Buds can achieve a huge 18 hours between charges. That means a full pair will keep going for days of light use, and shouldn’t need topping up even on the longest plane and train journeys.

Even though Beats is owned by Apple, Android users can download the Beats app for easy use, and the buds can be located using both the Apple Find My and Android Find My Device apps in case the diddy case goes walkabout.

And despite being Beats’s cheapest buds, we found they pack a pleasing and punchy sound for most music genres. With built-in mics they’re also great for phone and video calls.

If you want buds with adjustable EQ and fancy features such as spatial audio or noise cancellation, these won’t be the buds for you. But for a no-nonsense plug-and-play person, these are ideal wireless earbuds.
