Dee Devlin speaks out after Conor McGregor is found to have assaulted a woman | UFC | Sport

Dee Devlin has rallied behind her fiance, UFC icon Conor McGregor, despite a jury concluding he assaulted Nikita Hand during a Dublin hotel incident in 2018. The court awarded Hand over £200,000 in damages last Friday, and McGregor plans to appeal the verdict, maintaining the encounter with Ms. Hand was with mutual consent.

Devlin has now taken to social media defending McGregor: "Conor and I dealt with these issues privately many years ago, as should be done in a relationship and we have come out stronger than ever," she noted. "We have four beautiful children now whose smiling faces and happy hearts are a testament to who he is and who we are! ".

This development follows amidst decisions from leading UK and Ireland retailers, such as Tesco, to cease sales of alcoholic products linked to McGregor. Furthermore, McGregor's whiskey brand Proper No. 12 is to be distanced from his image after the divestment of his shares in 2021 for a sum exceeding £100million.

In addition to this, a renowned video game developer announced on Monday that it will withdraw all features relating to the famed MMA athlete. McGregor's presence has been notable in the realm of video games, particularly recognised for voicing a character designed in his likeness as part of extra downloadable content for the Hitman series.

In the game, McGregor's avatar appeared as an elimination target assigned to the player's assassin. Conor McGregor, the controversial UFC star, has been stirring up a storm on social media after posting and then deleting pictures from outside the court during his recent case. He had previously turned off comments on the post.

Earlier in the week, he released a statement saying: "People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches."

"I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That's all on me. As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision. I can't go back and I will move forward. I am beyond grateful to my family, friends and supporters all over the world who have stayed by my side. That's it. No more.Getting back to the gym - the fight game awaits! "

The Irish fighter has not been in the octagon since July 2021, and there's been no word from the UFC on whether they will clear him to return to fighting. McGregor was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler this summer but had to withdraw two weeks before the bout due to a broken toe sustained during training.
