Luke Humphries makes worrying comment and plans big change after Czech Darts Open win | Other | Sport

Darts star Luke Humphries has revealed that he intends to change his game in 2025 after losing "that spark", despite his recent emphatic victory at the Czech Darts Open. The world No. 1 was in flying form as he secured his second title in Prague.

Humphries needed to be at his very best to defeat Luke Littler in the semi-finals before putting Belgium’s Kim Huybrechts to the sword in style with an 8-1 victory in the final on Sunday. He beat Mike de Decker and Ritchie Edhouse en route to the semis.

Cool Hands reiterated throughout the competition that he was pleased with how he was performing, though he did admit that he would hold talks about new darts in a comment which will strike fear into the hearts of his rivals.

Humphries feels he can find ‘another level’ despite his incredible success over the past 18 months, saying after his 6-2 win over Edhouse: “It's really hot and I don't cope well with the heat with my darts. I think I'm going to have to adapt next year.

“I've been talking to my supplier Red Dragon so maybe we will go for a bit more grip, longer points. Stuff like that. I feel like I can improve from what I've been doing, I feel like I've lost that spark a little bit.

"I know I played well, 100 average is that right but that first dart at double 20 in the first leg just slipped out of my hand. It's just not normal so maybe I need to adapt and change things. I'm one of them people I don't like changing a lot but I have to adapt.

The 29-year-old feels that a series of changes to his arrows will see him improve further, with additional grip viewed as a key change by Humphries.

He concluded: “I'm going to add grip, longer point and less barrel and see how it goes because I feel like I'm on the bottom wire quite a lot.
