Lawns will see a boost in thickness and turn green if you sprinkle over 1 item

A lush, thick lawn is the dream of every homeowner, but grass can often be left looking patchy, brown and lifeless after a cold and wet winter. With the spring and summer months approaching, you may be starting to become more aware of how your lawn has become a little neglected over winter and needs shaping up.

According to gardening expert Fiona Jenkins at MyJobQuote.co.uk, one of the best ways to achieve a thriving lawn is by planting grass seed in the early spring months. Planting more grass seed is an excellent strategy to boost the thickness of your lawn, ensuring it remains healthy throughout the year.

Early spring provides the perfect balance of moisture, temperature, and sunlight for grass seed to thrive.

As temperatures begin to rise and the soil thaws from winter, the conditions become ideal for seed germination and root establishment.

To sow grass seed, simply prepare the soil by loosening it, removing weeds and debris, and ensuring good drainage, then spread the seed evenly, lightly rake it in, and keep the area consistently moist until germination.

Fiona also advises starting your regular mowing schedule if the risk of frost has passed. Meanwhile, gardeners can also tidy the edges of your lawn and treat any unwanted moss and weeds that have grown over the colder months.

Finally, the expert suggests giving your lawn an early spring feed with plenty of nutrient-rich fertiliser to restore it to full health.

During winter, grass goes dormant, and nutrients in the soil become depleted. A spring feeding replenishes these nutrients, helping the lawn recover and encouraging fresh, green growth.
