Majorca locals rage at British tourists for 'walking around naked' and being noisy | World | News

Locals living near a popular holiday resort in Spain say they are furious with British tourists who "shout all night", even alleging that some have been seen walking around naked.

Spaniards in Magaluf, Majorca, say the area is now a "nightmare" to live in.

One resident from the Avinguda de l'Olivera area spoke to local media outlet Ultima Hora about the tourists there.

She said: "They walk down the street in flocks. It’s horrendous and we have to put up with it every day. These noises can last well into the morning.

"Magaluf seems like the city that never sleeps."

The local added: "The locals think that these groups of tourists come from the Pirates Adventure show! Nobody sleeps on this street."

Meanwhile, a neighbour alleged that she had seen tourists "walking around naked" and "throwing rubbish in the street."

They continued: "I’ve seen local police and the Guardia Civil doing nothing."

In recent years, anti-tourism protests have been on the rise in Majorca.

Locals have bemoaned the congestion on the island, as well as the impact of tourism on rental prices.

Earlier this year, thousands of locals in Majorca took to the streets to voice their anger.

Locals displayed banners that read: "Your paradise, our nightmare" and "Tourism yes - but not this much"

Pere Joan Femenia, of (Less Tourism, More Life) set up a huge protest in July.

She said: "Mass tourism is making it difficult for local people who cannot afford to live on their own island because tourist flats push up prices.

"Tourists fill up beaches and put a strain on public services in the summer.

"We want to cut mass tourism and to ban non-residents from buying houses which are just used for a few months a year or for speculation."
