Pink Floyd's David Gilmour stuns locals after surprise gig | Music | EntertainmentGuests at an open mic night in Brighton were left stunned when they realised a music legend had been performing for them. The Neptune Inn's Monday night open mic session took an unexpected turn when a guitar icon, known for some of the most celebrated albums in history, graced the stage. Navigating through the crowd and "crashing" Romany Gilmour's performance was none other than Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, who treated the audience to a selection of rare tracks. Onlookers were astounded to see the guitarist, who rose to fame working with Roger Waters in Pink Floyd and later took over the band following Waters' exit. David and his daughter Romany performed a few Pink Floyd classics including Breathe (In The Air), Time, and Breathe (Reprise). Attendees were amazed to hear The Dark Side of the Moon hits played live at the historic venue, with David Gilmour later disclosing the gig was part of a warm-up tour preceding his UK tour. He posted: "Very much enjoyed crashing @GilmourRomany's gig at the Neptune in Hove this evening after finishing tour rehearsals..." Fans were thrilled with the performance and envious of those lucky enough to be there that night. One lamented: "50 yards from my house and I decided to stay in and watch c**p on telly. FFS." Another chimed in: "I love the Neptune! Stage a tad cramped but always a good night." A third shared their excitement: "Wow imagine just sitting in a local pub/bar and in walks Gilmour. Such a cool thing. Romany has such an amazing voice. Love this so much." It was Gilmour's return to the stage for the first time since May 2020, electrifying the open mic night. The beloved Neptune Inn invites performers every Monday night from 8.30pm to 11pm for an open mic session, and it was there that Gilmour, together with his daughter Romany Gilmour, serenaded the patrons. Admirers expressed appreciation for Gilmour's dedication to his craft, including one comment: "A true musician! Willing to play stadiums as well as a tiny pub! Brilliant!"
