Concord game release date, launch time and how to play three days early | Gaming | Entertainment

On the same day Overwatch 2 is releasing a new season of content, Sony is getting ready to launch its very own hero shooter for PS5 and Steam. Concord is an Overwatch-inspired team-based shooter featuring a variety of 5-v-5 multiplayer modes. While the game officially has an August 23 release date, customers who pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition can actually play three days early. If you stumped up the £49.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition, then Sony's new Concord game has an August 20 release date and a 6pm BST UK launch time. The Digital Deluxe Edition also comes with a selection of bonus content, including the Northstar Freegunner Pack. This essentially gives users access to various character outfits.

Concord will launch with 16 different characters, 12 multiplayer maps and six team-based game modes.

This includes the Domination-style Area Control game mode, which sees players attempt to score points by taking control of different zones.

Cargo Run, meanwhile, is a game mode in which teams attempt to extract a package, while Clash Point tasks teams with securing an area and killing the opposition.

There's also a Team Deathmatch-style Takedown mode, as well as Trophy Hunt, which sounds like Call of Duty's Kill Confirmed mode.

As for characters, Concord features 16 heroes that fall into one of six different categories, such as Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician and Warden.

Needless to say, successful teams will utilise a variety of different styles, from offensive, tank-like characters, to support heroes and defensive builds.

Speaking of characters, one thing I like the sound of is Firewalk's plans to flesh out its roster on a weekly basis.

According to the development studio, new cinematic vignettes will be released each week, each delivering ongoing narratives that expand upon the characters and their adventures.

Another thing that sounds positive is the developer's plans to release free content in the weeks and months ahead, such as new characters, maps and game modes.

Concord will certainly have a tough time breaking into this popular genre, but from what I've seen so far, there's a strong foundation for Sony to build on, so hopefully it gives it time.
