Here's a roundup of what the Metropolitan Police has said so far on the protest outside the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf, London.

At around 2.30pm, the force said officers were deployed "around the area being used to accommodate asylum seekers near Canary Wharf" with the protest taking place outside the hotel.

About half an hour later, shortly after 3pm, the Met confirmed it had imposed conditions using Section 14 of the Public Order Act "to prevent serious disruption at the protests in Canary Wharf".

The force said: "The group protesting against the use of the hotel by asylum seekers have been instructed to remain on the pavement opposite the Britannia Hotel."
