A new Wallace and Gromit film has quietly landed on Netflix, and fans are calling it a "masterpiece" worthy of the big screen. With a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and glowing viewer reviews, Vengeance Most Fowl marks the long-awaited return of Britain’s most beloved clay duo - and it’s already being hailed as their best adventure yet.

Released in July 2024 to coincide with Aardman’s 50th anniversary, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl is the first full-length Wallace and Gromit feature since 2005’s Oscar-winning The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Once again directed by Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, the 70-minute stop-motion film reunites fans with eccentric inventor Wallace and his ever-faithful dog Gromit for a tale that blends charm, suspense, and social satire - all told with the studio’s signature style of animation.

In Vengeance Most Fowl, Wallace’s obsession with smart home technology spirals out of control when an old foe - Feathers McGraw, the silent penguin villain from 1993’s The Wrong Trousers - makes a chilling return.

The film follows Gromit as he uncovers Feathers’ sinister plot, navigating a series of increasingly chaotic gadgets and machines as Wallace unknowingly falls under the penguin’s influence. What begins as a cosy domestic tale quickly unravels into something much darker than it first appears.

On reviewing platform Rotten Tomatoes, viewers have been unanimous in their praise, calling it a return to form for Aardman and Wallace and Gromit’s most satisfying outing to date.

“This is easily the greatest Wallace and Gromit,” one fan wrote. “It’s Oscar worthy and deserved a theatrical release.”

Another said: “Immediately sunk into the world of 62 West Wallaby Street through the still incredibly engaging characters. As classic, fun and clever as ever. Loved every minute.”

A third viewer raved: “The film is thoroughly entertaining, with genuinely funny moments, but also offers a powerful reflection on current issues that adds depth to the story. A perfect mix of humor, nostalgia, and thoughtful commentary, and I highly recommend it.”

As with previous Wallace and Gromit adventures, the humour is seen as quintessentially British - full of wordplay, visual gags and lovingly detailed sets - but this time there’s a sharper edge.

While it’s suitable for families, Vengeance Most Fowl doesn’t shy away from themes of surveillance, artificial intelligence, and consumer dependency, giving adult viewers plenty to reflect on.
