Heavy rain has created traffic chaos across London and the south of England today with multiple crashes.

Traffic stopped on the M25 clockwise after a multi-vehicle crash between J8 Reigate and J9 Leatherhead. Motorists faced hour-long delays and around four miles of congestion before all lanes reopened, National Highways said.

Meanwhile, drivers heading to Heathrow Airport have been caught in delays on the M3 eastbound after another multi-vehicle crash between J2 (M3) and J12 (M25), which caused fuel spillage.

National Highways said: "Delays of 60 mins remain on the M3 eastbound between J3 and J2. Thanks for your patience".
