Indulging in snacks doesn’t have to compromise on health, with one food creator sharing how you can whip up pretzels in no time at all. TikToker Slim Kitchen recently shared their recipe for fat-free pretzel sticks made with just a handful of ingredients.

What’s even better is that these take just ten minutes to cook, and they can be done in everyone’s favourite kitchen appliance: the air fryer. Unlike other bread products, these won’t need any long proving time or copious amounts of yeast. Slim Kitchen said: “Two ingredient fat free Greek yoghurt pretzel sticks. Oh! Ten minutes in the air fryer, they could not be easier to make.

“They are totally delicious, soft and pillowy on the inside and chewy on the outside.”

The key components are fat free Greek yoghurt and self-raising flour. The pretzels are also just 48 calories per piece, for anyone who’s concerned with healthy eating.

The video has already been viewed over a massive 299,500 times, receiving 11,200 likes and 118 comments. Keeky said: “Oh hell yeah! shall be giving them a try tomorrow. Haven't saved a video so fast. Thanks for sharing.”

Another wrote: “Oh I am definitely trying these at the weekend. Reckon I could grate some cheese into the mixture?”

Richard commented, “Seriously impressed with this recipe! They turned out perfect,” while another wrote, “Those look literally amazing I can’t wait to make them.”

One commenter suggested: “Spread some garlic butter on these bad lads. I’ll be trying this on the weekend.”

So if you want to try to make your own pretzels at home, this is what you’ll need to do.

Ingredients

  • 300g 0% fat Greek yoghurt
  • 300g self raising flour
  • 4 tsp baking soda
  • Sea salt flakes

Method

Start by mixing the flour and yoghurt in a bowl until you form a shaggy dough, then knead together for around five to ten minutes until the dough is fully combined and soft to the touch.

Cover and leave to rest at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

Divide the dough into 25 balls and roll it into fat sticks that taper at each end. Meanwhile, bring one litre of water to a simmer and add the bicarb (watch out, it will fizz up for a second!).

Plop the sticks into the water (if you’re quick you can do seven or eight at a time) and simmer for around 30 seconds until the float.

Remove from the water and sprinkle with plenty of good quality sea salt while they’re still wet. Place them in the air fryer and bake at 190℃ for around ten to 12 minutes or until beautifully bronzed.

Feel free to slice the surface of each stick with a sharp knife (don’t go too deep) to give the authentic pretzel look, but it’s really not necessary.
