Tributes have been flooding in for Hulk Hogan, who has passed away aged 71 years old. The wrestling icon was a much-loved figure and transcended the sport. 

It's claimed the former WWF and WWE star suffered a cardiac arrest, with emergency service vehicles having been spotted at Hogan's Florida-based home. He was wheeled out of his home, according to TMZ, and placed on a stretcher but eventually passed away at the hospital. 

The official WWE account led the tributes, posting: "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans."

Former wrestler and rival Ric Flair added: I Am Absolutely Shocked To Hear About The Passing Of My Close Friend @HulkHogan! Hulk Has Been By My Side Since We Started In The Wrestling Business. An Incredible Athlete, Talent, Friend, And Father! Our Friendship Has Meant The World To Me. He Was Always There For Me Even When I Didn’t Ask For Him To Be. He Was One Of The First To Visit Me When I Was In The Hospital With A 2% Chance Of Living, And He Prayed By My Bedside. Hulk Also Lent Me Money When Reid Was Sick. Hulkster, No One Will Ever Compare To You! Rest In Peace My Friend!" 

Posting on X, @itsjohnrocker said: "A patriot, and a true American. RIP Hulk Hogan." 

Dave Meltzer, a renowned figure in WWE media, added: "Hulk Hogan died at 71 today. He is probably the most famous pro wrestler who ever lived and more people paid to see him perform over the course of his career than any other person. Thanks for the memories." 

Wrestling fan, @WALE_Tendai said on X: " RIP Hulk Hogan he was a real legend he was the heart of our childhoods watching WWF and WWE." 

House of Representatives politician Anna Paulina Luna stated: "RIP to the great Hulk Hogan, who lived right here in FL-13. It was an honor to be your Representative. Gone, but the legend of Hulkamania will run wild forever." 

@DonaldJTrumpJr, son of the President, posted a photo of himself with Hogan, captioning it: "R.I.P to a legend. [x3 American flag emojis HULK HOGAN."

Charlotte Flair, daughter of Ric, said: "When I nearly lost my dad 8 years ago, one of the few people who was there for all of it was Hulk Hogan. My heart breaks for Nick and Brooke. Rest in peace, brother."
