Motoring experts have been left stunned after finding several surprising things on what he called the “worst electric car”. YouTube channel Tesla Jigsaw was pleased with half a dozen elements of the Dacia Spring he reviewed despite being unimpressed with the model.

The Dacia Spring is one of the most affordable new cars on the market with models available for under £15,000 brand new. Voicing their own personal opinion, the reviewers started off blasting the Dacia for its basic design and poor performance but were pleased with elements of its plucky design. In particular, they were pleased with its range of tech features, cruise control and cheap price tag.

In the title of his video, Tesla Jigsaw claimed the model was the “worst electric car but admitted they still found positives”. Performance-wise, the Spring can reach 0-60mph in around 19 seconds, making it a lot slower than many of its electric car rivals.

He stressed the car was not very spacious with owners unable to fold down their seats or fully adjust the steering wheel. Tesla Jigsaw also called out the lack of rear armrest or vanity mirrors on the sunshades and a lack of cup holders.

Getting beyond the wheel, he said: “So what's it like to drive then? As you can imagine its very basic, very squishy and soft. I don't think there's any sound insulation in here. It's not particularly quiet for an electric car which is strange. When you put your foot down, not a lot happens.”

He added: “It’s reminiscent of a 1990s, super cheap Ford Fiesta or whatever. You certainly couldn't describe it as precise steering, you do have to turn it quite a lot to turn around the slightest of bends. "

But he was pleased with the car’s super cheap price tag with Spring's among the cheapest city cars around. The reviewer also suggested the car were 120 miles real word range would be "enough for most commuters”.

He added: “On the plus side, visibility is quite nice, it's got turning circle of 9.5 metres and soft suspension and light steering to make it a breeze for anyone to drive.

“It also comes with Apple CarPlay and it's got cruise control… And it’s also got four electric window which I didn't expect. It's got a reversing camera on the screen which is pretty decent and space for four adults.”

Later on, Tesla Jigsaw also praised the car’s built-in touchscreen for being intuitive to use. However, YouTube viewers were quick to call out the review, stressing that the list of faults mentioned was not relevant because of the cars affordable price tag.

YouTube viewer @stevemumfird6983 said: “It's a city car for everyday short journeys that happens to be cheap. Not the worst but the best in my mind."

@Brian-om2hh stressed: “Those who have bought this car, have probably done so because they're aware of the simple fact that a third-class ride always beats a first-class walk..... This is now Britain's 3rd cheapest new car...."

Another added: “Cars have become too expensive, and needlessly complex. More vehicles like this are needed.”
