Novak Djokovic cancelled his training session today after revealing he felt βtighteningβ his groin before falling late during his quarter-final win. The Serbian superstar beat Flavio Cobolli to set up a blockbuster semi-final with world No.1 Jannik Sinner.
But the seven-time Wimbledon champion did not show up for his scheduled 3pm practice slot at Aorangi Park on Thursday afternoon although he has been seen at the All England Club
Djokovic, 38, reached the Wimbledon final last year after undergoing knee surgery following the French Open.
And he slipped on his second match point against Cobolli and felt his right groin before getting up. The 24-time Grand Slam winner then won the next two points to reach the last four.
But speaking in Serbian in his post-match press conference, Djokovic said: "It all happened very quickly... I slipped and I noticed it; the muscle had been bothering me in the fourth set, it was tightening, and then bad luck struck on match point. Even so, I managed to overcome the next two points, which is fantastic.
"It's not the first or last time I've slipped, but it is the first time this year, which is surprising because I'm a player who likes to slide on grass. In the afternoon, there's more humidity in the air, it becomes more slippery, and the chances of something happening increase. In the next 24 or 48 hours, we'll see the severity of the problem and act accordingly."
Sinner also cancelled his scheduled training session on Tuesday affer falling on his right elbow during his fourth-round win. He instead had a light training session on the indoor courts away from public view and wore a protective arm sleeve during his quarter-final win over Ben Shelton.
