Sky made the latest iPhone more affordable but we found a better offer

If you want to pick up the latest iPhone for the most affordable price, this could be the deal for you. The iPhone 16e launched in February as the replacement to Apple’s popular iPhone SE range, and although it’s the cheapest iPhone you can buy, it’ll still set you back £599 - and that’s without the cost of a mobile plan.

Sky Mobile is currently selling the iPhone 16e for what the network says is its “lowest ever price” of just £18 per month. This gets you the 128GB model of the phone on a 36-month contract with 100MB data per month. Sky also lets you swap your phone every 24 months for no extra cost.

Over the 36 months, this totals £648. Sky doesn’t tend to raise its prices mid-contract unlike other mobile providers, but check the terms and conditions before you commit to any contract.

One thing to note is that while this is a very good price, 100MB of monthly 5G data is not a lot - in fact, it’s not enough for anyone unless you’re connected to Wi-Fi 24/7. Sky is offering 5GB data at £6 per month for the first six months, rising to £12 after that.

This means you’ll pay £24 per month for six months and then £30 for the remaining 30 months. That’s a total of £1,044, much more than the lowest price, but one with enough mobile data for most to get by.

That’s why it’s worth shopping around. Over on Mobiles.co.uk, you can get the same iPhone 16e for £29.99 per month with an upfront cost of £29. This gets you an amazing 100GB monthly 5G data on iD Mobile, a network owned by Currys (which also owns Mobiles.co.uk) that runs on the Three network.

Over the 24 month contract (one year less than Sky), the total spend is £772.76, which includes annual price rises. That’s £271.24 cheaper than Sky’s contract while getting you 20 times more monthly data and getting you out of contract a year earlier.

Unless you really want to be a Sky customer or could honestly get by on 100MB data, the Mobiles.co.uk deal is far better value.
