Tottenham Hotspur are at risk of a dressing room revolt after Daniel Levy's decision to brutally sack Ange Postecoglou as the club's head coach on Friday. Spurs axed Postecoglou just 16 days after he achieved a historic Europa League triumph by beating Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao, ending a 17-year trophy drought.

The Australian boss also oversaw a humiliating Premier League campaign, finishing in 17th with an unacceptable 22 defeats from 38 games. Despite lifting Spurs' first European silverware in 41 years, it was the domestic form that ultimately convinced Levy to make a change. However, the ruthless call reportedly hasn't gone down well among the players who fought for Postecoglou until the final whistle.

According to the Telegraph, Levy faces the threat of a toxic player revolt after parting ways with Postecoglou in such a brutal manner.

The Spurs chairman is also believed to have sacked chief football officer Scott Munn, who was one of the ex-head coach's most loyal allies.

It's claimed that the development has angered a number of players, some to such an extent that they now want to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Spurs left Postecoglou waiting to hear about his future for over two weeks after glory in the Basque Country before swinging the axe on Friday.

The report adds that the club's new head coach will immediately inherit the daunting task of repairing a dressing room largely broken by their predecessor's departure.

Multiple Tottenham players publicly showed Postecoglou support in the final weeks of his two-year reign.

After winning the Europa League, captain Son Heung-min said: "He [Postecoglou] won the trophy. Nobody did it, so, look, it is not up to me or the players.

"But we just have to look at the facts, at the fact that we have not won in 17 years. Today is the day we finally won it. It is the manager who wins the trophy. So we see what is going to happen."

Pedro Porro had shared the impact speculation about Postecoglou's sack had had on him and insisted he still had the support of the dressing room.

In the wake of the dismissal, Porro was the first Tottenham player to publicly react, bidding farewell on Instagram.

He wrote: Thank you for everything, boss. For mentoring me early on, helping me settle into the club, and trusting me out on the pitch.

"I’ll always be grateful for the way you led us, defended us, and kept us going through all the highs and lows.

"Above everything, you gave us one of the greatest moments in the club’s history, and for that, you’ll always be celebrated. Wishing you all the very best, boss."
