Rasmus Hojlund 'makes final decision on transfer' after Man Utd receive approach | Football | Sport

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is being targeted by Inter Milan after two underwhelming seasons at Old Trafford. And the striker has reportedly approved a transfer to the San Siro.

United splashed £72million to prise Hojlund away from Atalanta two years ago as former Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag attempted to find a goalscorer to spearhead his attack ahead of his second campaign at the helm. Hojlund showed glimpses of his talents early on and scored a wonder goal in a Champions League encounter with Galatasaray two months after arriving in England. But he has failed to build on his early promise and was forced to share gametime with Joshua Zirkzee during the 2024/25 campaign.

United boss Ruben Amorim will be overseeing a rebuild this summer and has been tipped to reunite with Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Matheus Cunha has already joined the club from Wolves, with the Red Devils also pursuing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo. And a host of current stars could make way for the new arrivals.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have made Hojlund their No. 1 attacking target, with the Serie A club’s transfer chief Piero Ausilio already making contact with the Red Devils .

Inter want to agree a loan deal that would give them the right to eventually buy the Denmark international. And the 20-time Italian champions think they have a good chance of getting a deal over the line.

Inter have assessed other strikers, including Jonathan David, who is set to leave Lille on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month.

But they have decided Hojlund is the right player for them due to his age, salary and previous experience of playing in Italy.

And the Manchester United star has reportedly already given his approval to the negotiations, while making it known that a move to the San Siro would be to his liking.

Hojlund only netted 10 goals for United in all competitions last season, with just four of those coming in the Premier League.

And in May, Amorim was forced to defend the 22-year-old as he explained: “I think if you look at the games we have several players that miss big chances, not just Rasmus.

“Of course, Rasmus, the game is to score goals because he's a striker, but it's a team thing. I already said that. Our team should score more goals, it's not just Rasmus missing chances.”
