Huge update as countdown to Netflix show about controversial royal couple begins | Royal | News![]() Although it has been kept under wraps for months, more details have been revealed about the documentary that offers an unprecedented look inside the love story between the Norwegian king’s eldest child, Princess Märtha Louise, and her partner, Durek Verrett, who is an American conspiracy theorist, convicted felon and a self-professed shaman. An insider has revealed to Danish outlet Billed Bladet: "The project is still untitled and will premiere in 2025." It comes as Märtha Louise entered into an agreement with her father, King Harald, that she may not use her title as a princess in connection with her commercial activities, and speculation arose about the title of the documentary. Netflix states that the "untitled documentary is a never-before-seen look at one of the most-discussed couples and explores their love story from the early days to the present day and how they navigate their new life surrounded by constant attention from the public". Märtha Louise, who is fourth in line to the Norwegian throne, and Durek Verrett, first announced their relationship in 2019, two years after the princess divorced Ari Behn, her late first husband and the father of her three children. In 2022, Märtha Louise said in a statement that she would step down from official royal duties to focus on her and Verret's activities and "distinguish more clearly between their activities and the royal house of Norway." The documentary will be about the couple’s life together, including the lavish wedding that took place in Geiranger, Norway. The festivities, which ran for three days, were covered around the world. Director Rebecca Chaiklin, who’s known for Tiger King, and Emmy-winning producer Chris Smith, have been following Durek Verrett and Märtha Louise’s life for over a year for the documentary. "I never thought of myself as racist before I got together with Durek, and suddenly to expand that vision and acknowledge that I actually have white privilege — it was such an eye-opener for me," Märtha Louise told Business Insider in 2021. She added: "I also see through his eyes that racism isn't just the obvious headlines, it's the subtle energies. It's how people look at him ... even in elevators or on the street, they clasp their handbags closer." Princess Märtha Louise of Norway's wedding to Durek Verrett in Geiranger on August 31, 2024, was attended by King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway. The wedding was a private ceremony following two days of celebrations. Source link Posted: 2025-06-02 18:37:37 |
