Charles Spencer issues new message days after property hit by arson | Royal | News

Princess Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, has issued a new message just days after a building in their family estate was burned down after being targeted by vandals. Last Wednesday, the 9th Earl Spencer shared images online of one of the farmhouses on the estate that was on fire.

Diana's brother said that he was "stunned" to learn of the news but clarified that the building was unoccupied at the time of the blaze. He wrote on his X account: "stunned to learn that one of Althorp House’s farmhouses - fortunately, unoccupied at the time - was apparently burnt down by vandals last night. With thanks to @northantsfire for doing their very best. So very sad that anyone would think this a fun thing to do." In a new post, Earl Spencer gave his followers a positive update, showing footage of two roe bucks – the male version of roe deer – having a tussle on the estate's grounds.

He captioned the video: "Balletic but fierce tussle between 2 roe bucks, just now, near the backyard of @AlthorpHouse the left hand one entered the right one’s territory, & departed with a limp.

"A painful prelude to the proper summer rutting season. They were so busy they ignored me filming."

A day earlier, he praised "the most handsome beast in the Park" as he retweeted a post by the estate's conservation manager, Adey Greeno, who shared a photo of the beautiful animal.

The earl wrote: Perhaps the most handsome beast in the Park at @AlthorpHouse at the moment. Just magnificent."

On Wednesday, the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue service cordoned off the area as they attended the scene.

They said on social media: "We were called at around 1:30am this morning (May 28) & crews arrived to find an unoccupied two-story property fully on fire.

"At the height of the fire, four crews from across the Service wearing breathing apparatus used hose-reel jets to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.

"This [Wednesday] morning, one crew remains on the scene with a water bowser to continue dampening down any remaining hotspots."

The Althorp estate is the Spencer family home, and it's where the late Princess of Wales was laid to rest.

Diana's final resting place is on a small island in the ornamental lake known as The Round Oval, which is located within Althorp Park's gardens.

Leading to the Oval is a path, which consists of thirty-six oak trees, marking each year of her life.
