Man Utd complete first summer signing and want three more after Matheus Cunha | Football | Sport

Manchester United have completed their first signing of the summer transfer window, with Matheus Cunha having joined from Wolves. The Red Devils are being tipped to have a busy off-season, with United plotting at least three more additions following Cunha's arrival.

United, who finished 15th in the Premier League, are said to have paid £62.5million for the Brazil international's signature. Cunha completed his medical with the Red Devils last week and will be officially unveiled following a visa confirmation. The Daily Mail have reported United will pay for Cunha across three instalments of £20.58m, having originally proposed paying for him over a five-year stint - something Wolves rejected.

A statement released on the club website read: "Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward’s signing is subject to visa and registration.

"The 26-year-old has 13 senior caps for Brazil, and, in his club career, has made 270 appearances and scored 72 goals in the English, Spanish, German and Swiss top flights. During two-and-a-half seasons at Wolves, Cunha has scored 33 goals in 92 appearances. Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford."

Wolves released a statement of their own, saying: 'Matheus Cunha has completed a permanent move to Manchester United for a club record fee following two-and-a-half years at Molineux... Last season the attacker finished as the club’s top scorer with 17 goals – six of which were nominated for the Goal of the Season award, including two in a big win at Fulham and an ‘Olimpico’ strike against United on Boxing Day.

"Having played his part in securing an eighth successive campaign at this level for the club, Cunha played his final game for Wolves against Brentford on Sunday and now makes his departure. Everyone at Wolves would like to thank Matheus for his contributions in old gold and wish he and his family the best of luck for the future."
