While the Elden Ring Nightreign reviews have been somewhat mixed, the game is doing big numbers on Steam and in the sales charts.

According to a post on X, more than 2 million players have purchased the game at launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Elden Ring Nightreign is designed for three-player co-op, to the point where solo players have complained about a lack of balance during single-player runs.

Fortunately, however, it looks like developer FromSoftware is planning to address these issues with the launch of update 1.02 next week.

In a post on X, FromSoftware confirmed that update 1.02 will contain improvements for solo expeditions.

That's on top of a number of bug fixes and gameplay tweaks that should eliminate some of the problems discovered at launch.

"Thank you for playing Elden Ring Nightreign," reads a FromSoftware tweet.

"Next week, Patch 1.02 will be released, and will include several bug fixes as well as improvements for solo expeditions. Further details will be provided next week."

According to the early patch notes, FromSoftware will add "Automatic Revival Upon Defeat" to solo expeditions. This means players will automatically revive once per night when playing single-player.

The amount of runes gained from defeating enemies will also be increased when playing in a solo run.

This should make things slightly easier when playing Elden Ring Nightreign without friends or other teammates.

Set in a universe parallel to the events of Elden Ring, Nightreign tasks players with outlasting a three day-and-night cycle, culminating in a boss battle at the end of the adventure.

It's described as a "condensed action RPG", where players will never experience the same journey twice.

There's a roguelike element to the game, with players earning relics to to customise and upgrade their characters for future runs and increase stats.

The action is also limited to a version of Elden Ring starting area Limgrave, although it looks like the locations will shift during each playthrough.
