Pressure washers are ideal for those jobs that traditionally require a bit of elbow grease; whether it's to clear algae from your patio or deck, clean grubby garden furniture or give the car a thorough wash. With plenty of warm weather around and hopefully more time outside, investing in a pressure washer is a smart move.

Now is a good time to buy the Kärcher K2 Power Control Car and Home Pressure washer, which has had its price slashed at Argos from £170 to £125. It's one of the brand's smaller, more compact models with a five-metre hose, though it will cover an area of twenty square metres.   

It comes with various attachments: two additional lances, or nozzles, that attach to the spray gun, one with adjustable pressure settings designed for different surfaces and one appropriately called the "Dirtbuster" that is a more concentrated spray.

There is also a patio-cleaning attachment, and a soft bristle car washing brush that is designed to help loosen and remove any dirt and gently clean your car without damaging the paintwork. You get patio cleaning fluid and car shampoo as part of the bundle, too. 

Argos is the cheapest place to find this offer right now, it’s also on sale at Amazon, but it’ll set you back £172, which is money that could be better spent on more stuff for your garden. 

The Kärcher K2 Power Control has a small and compact design and is on wheels, making it easy to move around your garden and store away when not in use.

This Karcher model has the brand's "quick-connect" system where attachments click-in rather than screw-on. I have the older K2 model that uses the same quick connect system, and I can confirm that it is an easy way of doing things.

I’ve never had any problem switching between lances, although reading some customer reviews it appears that there can sometimes be issues. One shopper wrote,  “The Karcher is not so easy to put together, a bit plasticy too. Connectors leak. Not as good as I hoped it would be. Used a great amount of soap when washing the car. Good for the underneath but disappointing tbh.”

 If you have a bigger budget and need something more powerful with a bigger reach, the Kärcher K5 Power Control Car & Home Pressure Washer (2100W) is worth considering. It features a stronger motor, a 10m hose, plug-and-clean detergent system as well as both corded and cordless use. This is currently reduced to £360 at Argos down from £415, one reviewer said it cleaned their garden in “record time” and was far easier on their back. 

If your budget doesn’t quite stretch that far the Bosch Easy Aquatak 110 Pressure Washer is a good option. This pressure washer has a 1300W motor and the same 110bar pressure, making it good for light to medium jobs. This is a good alternative to the Kärcher K2 as it also comes with a choice of variable fan jet and rotary nozzles which will work well on patios, garden furniture and even cars.
