Jack Draper plotting Andy Murray talks and opens up on appearance with top model | Tennis | Sport

Jack Draper is loving the limelight of being a top-five superstar. And the British No.1 is ready to tap Andy Murray’s experience on how to handle the growing hype at Wimbledon. The big left-hander’s fame has hit new heights with his run to the US Open semi-finals and winning in Indian Wells.

The Madrid finalist has recently starred in a new Burberry ad with top model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - and his “Peaky Blinders” hairstyle has caused a buzz on social media. And before bidding to win his first ever match at the French Open, the No.5 seed said: “There's a bit more noise around everything for me, and that's something I'm adapting to.

“And, yeah, I’m very, very comfortable with that. I've always been aware that if I want to be a top player, that's my goal. And that is obviously more attention, good and bad. And I'm ready for that, I'm prepared for that. And I'm adapting my life and and, you know, getting more and more prepared for that all the time. Because, I do believe that I can go right to the top.”

Draper, 23, described the Burberry shoot in Dubai - where he twice jumped off a boat into the Persian Gulf - as “a really fun campaign”. He added: “She was lovely - really down to earth.”

The shaved sides to his head and highlights might not be as easy on the eye but he insisted: “I've had the same shocking haircut since I was 14 before Peaky Blinders and everyone's saying: ‘I've got a new haircut’. It's the same one I've had always. So it's nothing new. But more people probably are taking more attention and stuff.”

This interest is only going to crank up in the grasscourt season with Draper an outside bet for the Wimbledon title. “Obviously what will come there will be a new experience for me,” he said.

“It is going to be different, but that's where I've got great people around me. I've got a really good team, solid. And like Andy always said, expectation is one thing, but I'm going to have a lot of love from people. I'm gonna have a lot of the crowds behind me, Queens and Wimbledon and a lot of support and that. That helps massively.”

Double Wimbledon champion Murray is now a free agent after his coaching relationship with Novak Djokovic recently ended.

Draper, who now employs the Scot’s former fitness trainer Matt Little and physio Shane Annun, said: “My team's very set at the moment.” But he added: “I’ll definitely pick Andy's brains here and there. I'm yet to speak to Andy about that stuff, but I definitely will, and I know he's always there if I need him.”
