Nintendo gives fans 4 more reasons to join Switch Online | Gaming | Entertainment

Nintendo fans have been given four new reasons to sign up for the company's Switch Online subscription service.

Fresh off the back of adding N64 fighting game Killer Instinct, Nintendo has just added four Game Boy titles to the standard Switch Online tier.

Available to play from today, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can check out classic Game Boy titles such as Survival Kids and Gradius The Interstellar Assault.

That's on top of puzzle game Kirby’s Star Stacker and fantasy role-playing game The Sword of Hope.

With a new Survival Kids game launching on Nintendo Switch 2, the re-release of the Game Boy original couldn't have come at a better time.

Released back in 1999, the original Survival Kids is arguably ahead of its time. The game sees players attempt to survive after being washed up on a deserted island.

You'll need to manage things like hunger and thirst, all the while hunting for food and crafting items.

Kirby’s Star Stacker, on the other hand, is a puzzle game in which players must match falling blocks and clear various objectives.

Then there's Gradius The Interstellar Assault, which is a horizontal shooter developed by Konami. The game features a similar power-up system to the mainline Gradius games, as players fly through stages shooting everything in sight.

Switch Online is the Nintendo equivalent of services like PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass.

Priced at £17.99 per year for the standard tier or £34.99 for the Expansion tier, Nintendo Switch Online lets Switch owners play online multiplayer, while also unlocking additional benefits such as free DLC and the ability to purchase certain items from the Nintendo Store.

The highlight, however, are the retro Nintendo games playable with an active subscription. The standard tier provides access to a wide selection of NES, SNES and Game Boy titles from Nintendo's past. This includes gems like Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Metroid, F-Zero and Mario Kart.

The Expansion tier adds games from the SEGA Mega Drive, Game Boy Advance and N64. Nintendo Gamecube titles will be playable when the Switch 2 launches in June.
