Homes will be 'toxin-free' and 'clean' when 5 houseplants experts love are used

Everyone loves the beauty and fragrance of fresh flowers, but according to the experts at Eflorist, they are so much more than that. Certain plants and flowers can also help improve the air quality in your home, as well as reduce dust levels.

As well as this, they can also provide a natural fragrance, so instead of using artificial air fresheners filled with chemicals, you can use fresh flowers as a natural way to keep your home smelling good. But not all flowers are equal when it comes to air purification, as some varieties are known to have particularly “strong” benefits.

1. Peace lilies

The experts said: “Peace lilies are one of the most effective air purifying flowers or houseplants, known to remove dangerous toxins like formaldehyde, benzene and carbon monoxide.

“So much so that research from NASA identifies them as one of the best air-purifying houseplants.

“They also thrive in low-light conditions, making them easy to care for, so even beginner gardeners and flower enthusiasts can enjoy the benefits of peace lilies.”

2. Chrysanthemums

These bright and cheerful flowers do a lot more than just look pretty, according to the pros.

They have actually been found to remove harmful pollutants, including ammonia and benzene, making them a great flower for purifying the air.

However, they do require a good amount of sunlight, so it’s important to position them close to a window.

3. Lavender

Known for its calming scent, lavender is one of the best air-purifying plants.

It can filter air pollutants and release its fragrance into your home, eliminating the need for synthetic air fresheners.

4. Jasmine

The experts said: “Jasmine flowers emit a sweet fragrance and can improve sleep quality and reduce stress by promoting relaxation.

“It’s also a great oxygen-producing flower for your bedroom, and creates a calming atmosphere, whilst absorbing harmful toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene and xylene.”

5. Orchids

Orchids are a great choice for improving air quality, as they can absorb harmful chemicals found in the air.

They’re also super low maintenance and only need watering every seven to 10 days.
