Cristiano Ronaldo 'braced for loan offer' and could face Man City next month | Football | Sport

Cristiano Ronaldo could reportedly leave Al-Nassr and go up against Manchester City and his former club Juventus next month. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is facing an uncertain future in Saudi Arabia with his contract due to expire this summer. He is yet to be offered a new deal, raising the possibility of an exit at the end of the season.

A number of teams have already been linked with a potential move for Ronaldo if his contract is not renewed. The likes of Flamengo, Palmeiras and Fluminense are said to be keen on bringing the 40-year-old to Brazil for the latter stages of his career. However, it has also been suggested that he could make a surprise switch to Morocco.

He is being courted by Wydad ahead of their participation in the upcoming Club World Cup, according to Spanish outlet Marca. The report claims they are hoping to get Ronaldo on board prior to the start of the tournament in June.

Wydad have been grouped with Manchester City, Juventus and Al Ain, meaning that if Ronaldo completes the switch, he would get the opportunity to go up against the outgoing Premier League champions and one of his former clubs.

The report adds that Ronaldo's presence would be a boost for FIFA, with a potential move to Wydad increasing the profile of the tournament. However, club president Hicham Ait Mena has already downplayed the possibility of completing a deal.

Speaking to Saudi news outlet SNRT News, he claimed that Wydad had not taken any steps to sign Ronaldo. He also said their financial capabilities would not allow them to afford the high costs that would be involved in such a move.

Only time will tell if Wydad can make it work ahead of the Club World Cup starting next month. In any case, there will be concern in Saudi Arabia about what a possible departure for Ronaldo would mean.

Al-Nassr are still believed to be debating a new contract, which would reportedly mean 'a new shift in the structure and the squad in line with the striker's wishes'. Alternatively, they could decide to bid farewell to the highest-profile player in their history.

Ronaldo has been the face of the Saudi Pro League since he joined Al-Nassr in 2022, shortly after leaving Manchester United. This season, he has bagged 24 league goals in 29 games and sits at the top of the division's scoring chart.
