Six Nations 2026 fixtures in full as major change made to schedule with Thursday match | Rugby | Sport

The 2026 Six Nations fixtures have been announced and there is a historic change to the schedule. Since their introduction in 2009, only France and Wales have hosted Friday night matches in the Six Nations. However, with broadcasters seemingly favouring these slots, this year's tournament will see Ireland hosting their first Friday night match in their round 4 encounter with Wales at the Aviva Stadium.

Given France's affinity for Friday night games, demonstrated by their hosting of Warren Gatland's team in Paris to kick off this year's tournament, it's no surprise they've been chosen to host the tournament's first-ever Thursday night match. The tournament will commence with an 8.10pm showdown between France and Ireland on Thursday, February 5.

The locations for France's home games are yet to be confirmed, leaving the venue for the first Thursday match in the Six Nations uncertain.

Wales' campaign begins with a high-profile clash as they travel to Twickenham to face England on Saturday, February 7, following a record 68-14 defeat to their arch-rivals in this year's tournament.

The opening weekend's other match sees Italy hosting Scotland in Rome.

France and England, who finished in the top two places this year, will meet in the final match of the tournament.

Wales have also experienced a Friday night game there, albeit behind closed doors during the autumn of 2020.

Super Saturday on March 14 sees Wales hosting Italy, nestled between Ireland's match with Scotland and England's visit to France.
