Rory McIlroy opted against performing any media duties after a horror showing at the PGA Championship. 

The Northern Irishman's time at Quail Hollow could not have been further from the glory he experienced at the Masters only a month ago. 

McIlroy tied for 47th after just making the cut. A pair of 72s over the weekend meant he was unable to catch the leading pack, with Scottie Scheffler eventually going on to win. 

Media were unable to speak to McIlroy afterwards. He did not appear in the interview and press conferences venues. 

The 36-year-old did share a chat with Jon Rahm in the car park, which was pictured by broadcasters. 

It means fans will have to wait for Mcilroy's verdict on a tough weekend, in addition to reports that his driver was non-conforming with tournament standards in the build-up.
