DVSA urges Brits to 'report late buses' in little-known rule![]() The DVSA has urged Britons to report buses that arrive late or fail to turn up at all due to a little-known driving rule. Many people may not be aware that the DVSA can "investigate" operators who regularly run services not on time. The DVSA stressed they could even involve Traffic Commissioners in their study if concerns emerge. However, it could help commuters and locals to find a solution to bus issues if they have to rely on public transport to get around. The DVSA helped raise awareness of the simple rule by posting a message on social media site X. The DVSA posted on social media site X: "Want to know what to do if your bus turns up late or not at all? “Report them first to your local bus company to give them a chance to put things right. If they don't, email DVSA and we will investigate - possibly involving Traffic Commissioners." The DVSA has previously explained individuals would have to share a variety of details if they wish to report a late bus. Individuals must explain the date and time the incident happened as well as the bus or coach service number. The name of the stop where individuals wanted to get on or off is also necessary as well as the name of the company running the service. The DVSA added: "You can report a bus arriving late, early, not stopping or not turning up to DVSA if the bus service was in England (outside London) or Wales. "You can choose whether or not to give your name and contact details when you report the problem." The DVSA stressed that handing over a name and contact details will allow the DVSA to contact an individual as part of the investigation. A report will still be investigated if details are not provided, but officials have warned this could make it a lot harder to bring any action against a particular company. The DVSA added: "Even if you do not give your details, it might be possible for the driver or company to work out that you reported the problem. “Example. You are reporting that a bus did not stop and you were the only person at the bus stop. You use that bus service at the same time each evening. The driver might be able to work out that you reported it." Source link Posted: 2025-05-18 14:21:38 |
