Sky TV still down with UK homes complaining they can't watch television

If you are trying and failing to watch TV this morning, you are not alone. Sky has been having some major issues with its service, which began affecting homes last night. At its peak, outage monitoring site Down Detector was showing over 30,000 reports of Sky having issues, making this a major problem. Even this morning, there are still over 2,000 reports flooding in that the Sky is still down.

It appears the gremlins are affecting Sky Q boxes with users seeing an error message about the Sky signal on the screen. Some customers have even reported that unplugging and restarting the device doesn't fix things with the error persisting. Others have also confirmed that they Q boxes keep freezing.

Along with all of those Down Detector reports, plenty of people have also now rushed to social media to complain about the problems.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), one Sky user named Louise said: "Are you going to tell people what's going on??? Sky TV has been down for at least 2hrs, and your website says no issues! Mine stays on for 10mins max, then disconnects from my TV."

Another, Charlotte, added, "Is anyone’s Sky TV down? Sky goes off randomly when watching TV and then says something about signal."

And Sky user Carl vented: "My sky Q box keeps on shutting down so you have to pull the power lead out for the box has to reboot, it’s happened 4x times now."

Sky is yet to confirm the issues or when things will be fully fixed. It does appear fewer people are affected this morning than last night, so things appear to be getting back online. Express.co.uk has contacted the TV company and will update this article when we hear more.

This bug comes after Sky Glass users have also been affected by a problem with some saying they aren't seeing a picture but can hear the sound instead.

This internet-connected TV doesn't require a dish, with all content beamed to the 4K screen via broadband instead.

It's unclear if this web connectivity is the cause of the current issue, but Sky has said it's working to fix the gremlins as a 'priority'.

“We’re aware of a technical issue which we believe is impacting a small number of Sky Glass customers," a Sky spokesperson told Express.co.uk

"We’re investigating this as a priority and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
